Mehndi is a brand new Indian Restaurant in Jeddah, it has not yet been reviewed. Be the first to review it below!
One of most unorganized, confused Restuarant. I wonder how jeddah good listed this restuarant.
It happened to me twice as we wanted to visit this place and explore it, as usual I called them to check if booking was necessary for lunch. The call was after few tries one Philipini replied and said booking not required. When we reached the place surprisingly both the times the restuarant was closed
How can this happen over the phone you say it’s open when you reach you find it closed
That’s it what more you need, jeddah food should delist them immediately and food lovers erase mendhi from their to go list
[CONTINUATION OF “OUR VISIT TO “MEHNDI” ON 17.10.2013″…………………………..]
During our introduction, prior placing the orders, I happen to inform Chef Amit about our anniversary which we never expected would revert to us with such a MAJESTIC FEELING!!
After dinner, Chef Amit approached us and informed that the dessert is complimentary to us since it’s your happy occasion. We were bewildered! We were served with mouthwatering gulab jamuns with hot chocolate poured over it and garnished with almonds and pistas with HAPPY ANNIVERSAY written beautifully with the chocolate syrup. It was the best gesture by Chef Amit which spoke alot about his heart, and his keenness to satisfy his customers in all possible ways he could. The dessert was DELICIOUS!
After the dinner, we had a long chat with Chef Amit, and we got to know alot about each other during our conversation.
To add a cherry to the cake, whilst we exchanged our business card, Chef Amit concluded by saying “IF YOU WISH TO EAT ANYTHING APART FROM THE MENU JUST GIVE ME A CALL AND LET ME KNOW WHAT IT IS I WILL TRY MY BEST TO SERVE YOU THE WAY YOU HAD DREAMT OF IT”… For this I would just say “HATS OFF CHEF AMIT!!” You truly are a ROCK STAR!!
We left Mehndi with a big smile on our faces as if we came out of our wedding hall with such a special feeling one could even imagine. My Wife thanked me for taking her to MEHNDI on our special day! What else would one want when your wife is happy?
I have few questions for all the viewers out there:-
1) How many of you have ever directly interacted with the chef himself in any of the Indian or Pakistani Restaurants here in Jeddah?
Answer is NONE
2) How many of you had ever been given with advices, suggestions or alternatives by any of the Indian/Pakistani restaurant staffs here in Jeddah?
Again the Answer is NONE
3) How many of you have ever expressed the special occasions to visit one restaurant to their staffs and they even bothered to care about it?
Sadly the Answer again is NONE
So my dear friends, let me tell you that MEHNDI is a place to be and CHEF AMIT is a person to meet which you will never regret…
WAY TO GO CHEF AMIT YOU DO HAVE A MAGIC WAND TO MAKE POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS BECAUSE GOD HAS BLESSED YOU WITH AN AMAGING TALENT!! TOUCH WOOD!!!
OUR VISIT TO “MEHNDI” ON 17.10.2013
Alas, we visited MEHNDI 🙂 !!! Me and my wife were of very negative opinion about the restaurant reading the discouraging comments in this blog and were very reluctant to make a visit. Finally, keeping a stone on our hearts we made a plan to pay a visit to Mehndi on our Anniversary.
Keeping our fingers crossed we entered the restaurant and to our surprise the ambience and set up was very attractive. We were welcomed by 2 staffs with a very happy tone which indeed made us feel a very special customer.
The decorations, space to walk, color combination, and the set up of the coffee bar was so beautifully designed that we were just exploring the art and the only word we were uttering was just “WOW”
We were escorted by one of their staff to our table who ensured that his smile doesn’t perish whilst we are being seated.
We both were handed the menu card and were left alone to select our menu. The Menu card was also sober and with limited dishes unlike other restaurants which have a menu card containing 100 dishes and whatsoever you order will turn out to the same in taste.
The best thing of the restaurant are as follows:-
1) the privacy which was given to us. We were covered with the portable partition which one cannot imagine to be covered taking into consideration the setup of restaurant.
2) to arrange families in ground floor and first floor for singles – if anyone finds that as stupid, then i suggest them to please visit “STEAK HOUSE” at Tahliya Branch where the families are more than happy with the similar pattern. THEN WHY NOT MEHNDI?
I loved the Philipino staff struggling to name the Indian cuisines but must appreciate their dedication to confront the Indian Customers with their pronunciations. I don’t mean that they were calling out the names wrongly, it’s just that it was sounding little strange to hear Indian Items in their accent.
It was then Chef Amit who took a lead firstly by introducing himself to us and then made us comfortable with his explanations and suggestions that would suit our appetite. He also proactively volunteered in making sure that we don’t end up paying up exorbitant bill for our dinner (which according to me and my wife was very sweet of him).
We ordered – Chicken Tikka Masala, Prawns Curry, Chiken Tikka and Lamb Biryani.
The preparation of our dishes took some time which we utilized to explore the complete architecture of Mehndi. The paintings on the wall, photo frames of London streets and souvenirs were very soothing and interesting.
Prior serving the dishes they placed the crockery’s which were very different and nice. Our food arrived!!!
The first bite of Chicken Tikka was MESMERISING!! It was delicious!! Then we tried chicken tikka masala and it was TRUELY SUMPTUOUS.
Since my wife is a die-hard PRAWNS fan we were keeping our fingers-crossed expecting that the taste would not be up to the mark, but to our surprise it was MAGNIFICIENT, OUTSTANDING AND OUT OF THE WORLD.
The Lamb Biryani was beautifully covered with a roti which reminded me of AMCHI MUMBAI! The Biryani was nicely garnished with slices of orange and coriander leaves and tasted yummy, awesome and very different compared to any other restaurants here in Jeddah with meat as soft as butter.
We enjoyed our meal and it was an amazing experience with MEHNDI which actually enhanced our anniversary occasion.
The best is yet to come folks……
