Pass by any branch of Shezan and let the aroma of mixed spices drive you to the wonderful experience and delicacies of an Indian kitchen. Aside from being one of Jeddah’s few South Asian restaurants that is clean and with full professional service. Its various delicious dishes is what will keep you coming back.Try the Chicken Butter dish or their amazing Biryani. Mix your Chicken Kurma with their Nan bread or have a bite of their oven-perfected Tandoori Chicken, It just gets better and better after each bite! If you can’t tolerate very spicy food, ask them to prepare your curry “Very Mild”. The amount of spice can be controlled and can range from “Not Hot” to “Very Spicy”. There is also “Saudi Spicy”! I’m not sure where that falls in the spectrum. Portions are quite big, so two main dishes can be perfect for three and so on. Try their Mango Lassi for a perfect finish to your feast. Shezan will definitely be on your weekly dinning list.

One of my favorite restaurants in Jeddah !
I can’t enjoy Indian food anywhere else in Jeddah after Shizan, have been going there for years !!

My favorite dish is Chicken Tika Masala, with a side order of Kima nan, and ofcourse drink; Lassi.

I wish they would invest more in the restaurant’s interior and overall look, I’m sure they can afford it since I’ve never seen it even half empty until now.

Food is great, Prices are reasonable, Service speed is regular, don’t expect friendliness (nor are they rude). Lots of privacy and bel3aafiya :)

The restaurant located at Malek road has very unprofessional service. The waiters are very rude and arrogant. They dont bother what the client wants and never turn up after throwing the food on the table. When u ask them why they did not turn up their reply was that it is not required. If you need something call them. How can a customer call them from his cubicle, will he shout from far off place?
Then when the food was left over i asked them to bring the bill along with the take away packet of left over food.
The waiter brought the bill and never bothered to take the money. I waited half an hour and left the restaurant by paying the bill at the counter. When i reached home i found out that half the lft over dishes were missing from the packet handed over to me as take away. Is this the service.
I have visited almost all the Shezan restaurants in Jeddah and found that the one at malek road is the worst in service. All the waiters are south Indians and very rude with customers.
The management shall take a note of this and try to change the customer service at malek road branch.

Having run Indian/Pakistani restaurants in London for 10 years, I have actually been going to Shezan for more than 20 years here and have seen its food change completely over this period of time. 20 years ago, the chefs at this place were conversant with the many different ways of cooking dishes that originate from different parts of India and the BBQ was a favourite amongst the Pakistani Indian population here. Today, all their so- called curries are cooked with a cream sauce that is full of cholestrol, calories and harmful toxic red colouring. Each meal that you consume at this place will exceed your recommended daily calories intake. I am still trying to digest last nights meal which I reluctantly had to get as no other Indian place delivers in the basateen area and I had English guests who wanted a curry. Shezan is an Indian restaurant for non-indians as you will see when you eat there. The clientele will be mostly European or Arab. prices are also ridiculously high for the amount of meat you get..arounf 40 Riyals. We have seen many restaurants go this way, Including Marhaba, which actually serves fairly authentic cuisine but is also too expensive for its own good. Head to Aziziyah and pick any Indian/Pakistani restaurant for a takeaway for 6 people for the same price as a meal for two here. Do I sound dissatisfied?? You’d never guess eh?

It would be better if I leave some things unsaid but having visited this restaurant a few months back, it was a total joke to say the least. Never seen more poor service or poor dishes not forgetting the absolutely unjustified pricing. Below average quality and despicable quantity.

If you feel like having a good laugh, go ahead and knock yourselves out. I wouldn’t go there even if someone paid me to!

Even though I consider myself Taj Mahal Palace biggest fan on this site, and I still stand by my conviction that it is Jeddah’s number one Indian restaurant, but I must confess that Taj Mahal Palace has it’s drawbacks, two in particulars which I will discuss in a moment, but first let’s talk about Shezan, a restaurant I first visited a few years ago and that visit left me, shall we say, unimpressed. So a few weeks ago, I decided to give it a second shot, so I took my wife and went to Al-Hamra branch on a Friday evening, and even though it was still early, the restaurant was half full.

We were seated in a good table and our orders were taken shortly after that. We ordered Vegetable Samosa for appetizer, which was quite good. Then the main dishes arrived, Mutton Nilgiri which is a stew of lamb meat simmered in thick coconut gravy. Chicken Tikka Masala, and Daal: a lentil stew. We are not big on rice so we had Naan and Paratha bread. All these dishes were excellent and came in big servings. So much so that we only managed to eat about half our dishes and we had to take the rest home.

Now I will go back to my first point about Taj Mahal Palace compared to Shezan. I think Taj Mahal Palace is superior because the service is better, the place in neater, and the menu is huge and extensive. But what was lacking in there is two things: there lambs dishes are simply awful, too much bones and too little meat. I don’t like dishes with bones in them, be it red meat, poultry, or fish, so there I said it. In comparison, the Mutton Nilgiri in Shezan was tasty, creamy, full or aroma, and the meat was tender and perfectly done. My second beef with Taj Mahal, no pun intended, is that they don’t have the simple Chicken Tikka Masala in there menu, which is one of my favorite Indian dishes period.

Bottom line, while I will still go to Taj Mahal Palace as my number one destination for Indian food, I won’t be exclusive to it any more and Shezan will be in my radar more often.

    My Bill:

    VegetableSamosa 6SR
    Mutton Nilgiri 39SR
    Chicken Tikka Masala 41SR
    Daal 21SR
    Naan 3SR
    Paratha x2 8SR
    Soft Drinks x2 6SR
    ——————————————-
    Total (incl.15%service charge) 143SR

Last weekend my husband and I went to Shezan Restaurant reading all your reviews. All I could say is that it’s not worthy for the money you pay. Poor service. They gave us burnt pappads. It took them so long to serve us water. We ordered Chikken Tikka Masala,Beef Kabaab and Nan,Rotti,Stuffed Paratha.

Nan was one of the Best I ever had.Stuffed Paratha disappointed me.Dishes taste good but came in artifical red colour, after eating checkout your fingers it will be like u have applied Mehendi. I don’t value food that I don’t feel healthy. The food at Shezan made my stomach upset. So never gonna back there again.

One of my fav Indian restaurant. It’s like the number 1 place me and my husband go to. We love the crispy bread-like that they offer with the yogurt sauce. I tried their chicken corn soup which was good. The samboosa with vegetables was very good(Taj Mahal’s better). We always have the chicken with butter which is a 10/10! And the chicken 65 which is very good! Along with some rice. I like that you can choose whether you want your dish very spicy, a bit spicy or mild. My husband always have the salty lase’ and I have the mango lase’. I’ve been meaning to try their ras malay, but I’ve always ended up full after the main dish. Because their dishes have a big portion of food!

I recently purchased take away from them in last two weeks. It was disappointed to know tha the ingredients they use for all the dishes are same. I purchased Bombay Aloo and Aloo Gobhi and shockingly both were the same – ditto. Same for Fish and chicken dish that I tried. Prices are also steep.

I tried shezan few years back, and i keep coming back for their really delicious chicken karahi, i found it lighter than cream-loaded chicken tikka masala. Their shrimp biryani is a favorite for both me and my husband. I also like their meat samosa, its really great for appetizer, along with their free of charge relish & poppadoms. Their plain naan is also very good. This restaurant is definitely a keeper!

salam, I heard about the restaurant from people that respect the food more than the decor itself. I visited Shezan (in Al-Malik Rd) 3 months back and in fact it was one of the best restaurants in Jeddah I’ve been to; in terms of food quality. I don’t remember the dishes that were ordered, but all of them were great and spicy :)

It took a long time to prepare the order though, and it was only us in the single section! Maybe the place is not fancy enough to invite someone for those who put decor and service as a priority, the prices are little above the average as well. Enjoy…

Hey there, I went their during the weekend on the Andalus branch and really their service was really below standard. The food took ages to come and the waiter got the order wrong. I am Indian and personally the taste was not upto the mark- and not definitely anywhere near the prices they charge. There are much better Indian restaurants in town.

Hey Yaser, I had to try the Mutton Lanjery… It tasted much better than the looks. I like their Butter Chicken, its real tasty. Oh, and if you order for take away you get a bigger serving than in the Restaurant!!!
