My all family were fortunate enough to gather together in the awesome weather of Jeddah in first week of January 2013. As some of us live in Makkah it is unusual for us all to gather at once, which made this a special occasion. Everyone was in the mood for a bit of a celebration, we decided to visit nearest mall with the amusement park activities, after a lot of games activities; our bodies were hungry for warm foods, fancy dishes, sweet desserts, and ice cream. We decided it was time to go out and hunt for something new, unforgettable food with a good ambiance.
Usually we go to one of our usual favourites, restaurant where we always return to have the same type of food, as we are used to to the taste and location. But this time we did some research to find a restaurant with both delicious food, a wide variety of dishes, and a relaxed environment to have good time with the family.
We soon found Royal Taj. On arrival we had an option to try the buffet or selection from the menu. As an open buffet restaurant, Royal Taj has a variety of Pakistani cuisine dishes on offer, but we decided to order from the ala carte menu as we all have different choices depending on our taste and mood. While they were preparing our selected main courses we enjoyed a sweet and sour soup as a starter.
Royal Taj has truly earned its reputation as a superb Pakistani cuisine in Aziziah because it offers scrumptious dishes. Our elderly relatives who are common eaters of only traditional Pakistani foods, loved the old classics like Biryani and Chicken Karahi.
Members of the middle aged and younger generation enjoyed exquisite foods that pleased their palate and surprised their senses; and an excellent platter at Royal Taj was the Mixed grill with barbeque pieces and grilled kababs, fried fish and Chiken Tikka.
Dishes that were exceptionally delicious were the Fish Tikka which came served on a sizzling plater and had a strong flavor. Also highly praised by everyone at our table was the Chiken Karahi Makhni which is basically a special touch of butter in a Chicken Karahi – a typical Pakistani dish which added the wonderful flavour and richness to the dish.
Although we are all fans of sweet treats. We were so full with the yummy food we said “better next time” to the dessert.
Over all, the dinner at Royal Taj is truly worthwhile and you can always head there with your loved ones to celebrate, or perhaps just to enjoy a luxurious meal. I wish they soon will start serving Tawa Qeema and Brain Masala as we tried to order these dishes, but they have yet to start these dishes here as the restaurant is still new and settling down in the city. Although prices are bit costly compared to other restaurant close by, I believe the quality of food here justifies the slight increase.

On 5 may, i had dinner with my family again and this time my all concern was the service and i informed restaurant ahead before i reach. They really take care of all the details and deliver good service. We also got the brain masala which i s new addition this time but did not like much. Chinese fried rice was too good and fish kabab thier new addition was good as well. But not happy with brain masala and chicken makhni handi so i will not recomend that. But strongly recomend rice and fish kabab.
I hope they keep their standard with the food quality and also serve salad during the meals.
After having the food, we had good amount of leftovers that we asked to pack and the smart management stole the fish kabab from it that was more than half the plate. Good way of trying their own food – just dont put in the packet and then say ” sorry we forgot it.” But man, we paid for the full plate, ate half and shared half with the staff??? Not fair.
This is too bad, I believe you should contact their owner for this. As what I believe that for sure he can not have your half plate as he did not pay for it
but it shows some careless factor that he just went and through the leftover and forgot to pack. DO let me know if it really make you mad then I can share the owner number with you.

Good food and atmosphere but try to mantain standards and improve service.
Today i webt to taj restaurant with some of my frinds came for ummrah. The best thing was that all the food is fresh and made in front of you as they have live cooking area. The worst thing was the delay in food came to table. But net result was good as we enjoyed the sizzling bar b q and tast traditional food. Karahi some how was not that masaledar as it is in pak but overall the food was yummy and worth eating.
I have been travelling for last 10 days away from home. I arrived in Jeddah today 16 April 2013 and searched the web for good pakistani restaurant. The Royal Taj came up and I read the above 2 review. Therefore I decided to go to this restaurant and try Pakistani food.
To start off the welcome was not there….I entered the restaurant and waited for someone to talk to me. After a while a waiter came up and I was seated. I ordered the food and requested that can they make sure they give the starter first and then main dish, but they completely ignored it and all food arrived in one go.
The food quality was ok but compared to Pakistani food we get in UK it was very poor. The customer service was very poor as no one came around the table to ask if food was ok?
I would not recommend to visit this restaurant.

You people are truely the best one as far as food is concern in jeddah. Gajar ka halwa is like home made. Maintain these standreds as i have seen restaurant changing to bad ones when they got famous.
I found it very good as i made my mind to go at RT on the basis of comments on the web. Good choice of food . This restaurant in my opinion will be a big problem for marhaba and shrezan in the future.

A good choice for food lovers. Nice addition in Azizia. Try fish kabab. Mix grill , brain masala , chicken handi lazeez. Pure lahore touch.
But I went there last week and as you mentioned brain masala it was not there they have not started it yet or may be finished. Any way very fine restaurant in terms of quality of food …need to emphasis on service. Actually making standard is easy but to maintain it is a difficult issue. I wish u people maintain these standards.
Jeddah food is a nice place because I can find good food and good deals on this site. Bro keep it up.
I found taj royal on this site and I am bit confused is it a bakistani or Hindi restaurant cause i yet to see a bakistani restaurant like this. It is a very good restaurant with very good food and gambari masala is awesome.
Service should be more speedy.
Overall it was a good decision to go there.
They should have Shabaka although albaik also don’t have it but customers comfort is more important.
Wow … We entered in family section and unlike other Indian restaurants live kitchen is in front of us. Very clean and well managed kitchen but one observation , who was the chef as all were dressed like same.
We were warmly welcome by the staff. We were 12 persons and luckily we got a good place at the right side of the main entrance. Hall was full as it can be expected on weekends.
Good menu and we ordered biryanee barbQ, balti goasht , butter chicken in Indian style, chicken sweet and sour in Chinese and Vegitable fried rice.
It took little long for our order but when the food was on the table it was so yummy that we overlooked the delay point. Bit costly but good value for money.
I believe it’s a quality restaurant. But they should maintain these standards.
It’s a very good addition in restaurants at Jeddah. Very tasty food with a triditional touch. I am regular customer of this restaurant since 3 months. They have good selection of menu. They must add tawa qeema. One more suggestion for restaurant as on weekends many of us want to have a quality breakfast so please also add breakfast atleast on weekends.
Some body suggested us this restaurant actually we never been to azizia for dinning.but this is the first time we have tried an Indian / Pakistani cuisine at Azizia .
Food was marvelous. Very good environment . They have variety of dishes in menu. We tried mix platter , biryani mutton and prawn masala. And believe me my father who is always in favor of Marhaba restaurant decided to arrange a company dinner at royal taj. I am very pleased that now our community is also making this kind of restaurant I mean with good decor and quality food.
