Monte Rosa Restaurant Jeddah

Monta Rosa on Prince Sultan Street is one restaurant I had not been to despite driving past it on numerous occasions. After discussions with a colleague one day I was told how good the food actually is there, and that it really was worth a visit. Located just before the roundabout heading to Extra, Monta Rosa dish up a wonderful selection of international dishes to a very high standard.

The restaurant is divided over two floors, the ground floor for singles, while the upper level is reserved for families. However if you get a chance to visit, it is definitely worth trying to go with family as the upper level’s atmosphere is far superior, more elegant, lavish, and befitting of the food.

We started on some lovely chicken lemon grass skewers, these were six pieces of marinated chicken in a ginger and garlic drizzled in a spicy peanut coconut cream sauce, these were superb, the chicken moist and tender; the sauce a successful flavour combination. Not bad for only 35SR.

This was not the only starter we sampled, we also enjoyed the mixed Spring Rolls, an assorted mix of chicken and vegetables, served with a sweet and sour sauce 29 SR.

We moved on to the Grilled Veal Teriyaki which was cooked with rosemary oven baked potatoes, more steep at 99 SR, but worth every bite. My dining companion ordered the Grilled Angus cheeseburger 49 SR, but was let down twice, firstly when the waiter brought the wrong order (A kids burger), and again when the correct burger did finally arrive, I had finished my main, and he was left to deal with a burger which while crispy and tasty, was not overly impressive, the patty was small and thin, akin to that of a fast food outlet.

Despite his disappointment, I was particularly impressed with the Veal Teriyaki, the sauce was rich, and the vegetables served alongside were perfectly done, not the usual over cooked things one usually finds elsewhere.

As for drinks my Torino (24 SR) Fruit cocktail of Mango, Banana and Red Apple was pleasant, my companions Monta Colada also seemed to go down well.

While not our first choice (the Belgian Waffle was unfortunately unavailable) The desserts were both elegant and visually stunning, we tried the Warm Apple Breton with Ice Cream, and the Classic Italian Tiramisu with real mascarpone cheese. The Tiramisu recipe apparently taken personally from a chef on a visit to Italy, Both were good, and were complimented well with our final espresso.

Overall we had a pleasant time at Monta Rosa, there is more on the menu that we could handle in one sitting, and despite a few hiccups, and based on my experience alone, I will definitely be back for more.

In the mood for good food and a night out on the town? Try Monte Rosa!
They have the best white sauce pizza, paella, Penn Arbiata, Fettuchini and Raviolli. their cakes and desserts are fit for royalty.
If you want food that is both pleasing to the pallet and the eye then this is the place for you, there is no wrong choice. Every dish is prepared and decorated exquisitely. It has excellent service and a beautiful atmosphere… Some may complain that the service is a bit slow, but that is a small price to pay for the wonderful meal and cozy ambiance offered to every customer.I have been their customer now for 4 years..I still love it and i have never been disappointed yet.By the way they still have the best Special occasion service in all of Jeddah. I do my birthday there yearly, and each birthday gets better. The waiters put on masks, bring out your cake and gifts to your choice of B Day song and put a mask on the guest of honor!
Graduations, Mother’s Day, Valentines day and New Years is just as special. They pass out free desserts to each table and play music which fits each occasion.
Every Weekend they pass out red roses to each guest as a token of appreciation as they leave.
We love you Monte Rosa! The Sweet memories you help to make are forever engraved in our minds.

My little girl picked this place cos she sees it on her way to school everyday. So we decided to dine there yesterday. From the outside the place looks banal and not very encouraging. But we thought our girl is curious about it we should give it a try.

As we walked in the place got better, but when we got to the family section upstairs things really started looking nice. I lOOOOve restaurant with a good atmosphere, and this on was that. The lighting was right, the music right; not too loud not too low, the furniture looked nice and elegant without being pretentious, well conditioned and a neatly arranged space that you feel comfortable moving around and comfortable at your table. There were different seating arrangements which made the place look more interesting. I asked to be seated at the non-smoking section mainly because it looked cozier than the other sections and because we could not get a table by the front window. And off course the place was neat and clean; even the toilettes which I have to see everywhere withe three little girls, some one has to need the toilette everywhere we go.

Ok so the place was elegant and pleasant what about the food? It was also surprisingly and pleasantly good. The drinks were quite good too. I ordered a risotto dish and a Nagil dish and they were both v. good. My daughters chose the mini chicken burgers which came nicely presented and looked fresh and the chicken patties where a good choice of grilled pieces of chicken and not he cheepo panee patties.

Now, the service was quit good as well and we were always attended for and did not need to look for waiters or such, someone was always there to serve and help.

It was a very pleasant experience dining there and will certainly repeat it. It is becoming more and more difficult to find a good dining place in Jeddah, and finding this restaurant was a nice treat. It is definitely added to our list of favorites.

I visited it about 5 years ago, and while I remember liking it a lot, apparently not enough to visit it again. May because when we were dining there we witnessed the traumatic event of a car hitting a man on his bike and it ruined our lunch. Anyway, with such high praises, I guess we should give it a second try. How is their smoking policy by the way?

there is a no smoking area in the family section upstairs, however if you are going with friends to the single area no such luck, and it is shisha all round.

Thanks for this bit of info. I was asking about the Family Section. It is good to know that there are some establishments still acknowledge that non-smokers are worth catering for.

        Dear Food Critic,

Once again, we were turned down to our dismay because the whole restaurant area was for family only (on the day that we went there).

They should seriously consider that not all bachelors who would want to eat at their establishment have come just around the corner. We travelled far and wide just to be turned away. Wonder how we’d rate them? I’ll leave it up to you…I can only afford 2, was seriously considering a 1 or 0 as we didn’t have anything to comment on but our hunger pangs and dismay!

I was refered to Monta Rosa a while ago and it was a great surprise. I like open spaces and I have a certain dislike to partitions (clostrophobic maybe!?!?)! This place is nicely done and decorated. When we started going there (under a year ago) we were given roses (1 for each lady)after paying the bill! That was a nice touch! They don’t do that anymore but the place is still worth going to (I don’t smoke shisha but I am told it is great!). The staff is indeed helpful. Planning a surprise birthday for your friend ??? go there! they do it BIG ;) !
