La Cuisine is located on Palestine Street, more or less opposite the Jamjoom Centre. An obsession with privacy presumably mandated the installation of an opaque glass frontage and entrance screens to shield diners from the glances of local pedestrians. The cuisine is French-influenced and therefore, careless of cholesterol, uses vast amounts of dairy products in its creations; even the green peppercorn sauce that accompanies its tender fillet steak is heavy with cream.
It is a perennial complaint that being a vegetarian one’s main course choices are almost always limited to either a pasta or a risotto; however, at La Cuisine there is a delicious spinach and mushroom vol-au-vent that is robust enough to do excellent duty as a main course for even large vegetarians. The superb Creme Brulee is the best in the city; the crunchy burnt sugar topping is not so thick nor so hard that one needs a hammer and chisel to smash through it, plus it is freshly caramelised before serving and comes warm to the table ! Fantastic.

My two friends and I went to La Cuisine last night. We were lost as the restaurant didnt have a proper signage. Anyway, when we did find it we were impressed by its ambience. We didnt expect it to be a “fine dining” restaurant and we found ourselves slightly under dressed for the retaurant – I didnt have my best abayah on), luckily the restaurant was empty – we were pretty early too.
We were seated in the middle of the restaurant and were given the menu. We were impressed with the menu selections. We ordered our starters and main course. The waiter brought us the bread – the bread was served warm but not really the best bread in town but we didnt mind much as we were more looking forward to our actual meal.
For starters: I ordered “Escargots a la Bourguignonme”, I was relaly looking forward to having this – the last time i had escargots was in Lebanon. The escargots came without the shells which made the meat slightly dry but it was tasty. A friend of mine ordered “Foie gras aux oignons” – I tried some and I love it!!! It was fantastic and I was amazed how generous the helping was. However I think the onions could have been more juicy. Another friend ordered “Moules Gratinees (mussels) – this was perfect too.
By this time we were very impressed with the restaurant. The starters were tastyt and well-cooked. We were very happy.
Next were the main course. First thing I noticed were the plates. There were warm! I ordered “Chateubrian” – The meat was cooked to how I wanted which was meduim however the meat wasnt as tender as I thought it would be. We were told the meat they used are Brazilian meat – which was ok. The Potato Dauphine was tasty but the herb used in the cream were a tad much – Herb taste overpowered the potatoes and cream taste. A friend ordered “Cotes D’Agneau Grillees aux Herbes, jus de Romain” which was cooked to a perfection!!!!!! Another friend ordered “Filet de Charolais aux Morilles” – again the meat was chewy but the mushroom sauce was tasty!
We didnt order dessert as we planned to go somehwere else for dessert but we ordered coffee to end our meal. We paid SAR 712 for 3 persons which was good price for good food. We definately recommend this restaurant.
I have been to La Cuisine French restaurant in Palestine St. last week. That was my first time i go to their new branch. Me and my cousins went for lunch and had the best meal ever. The service was super, the food was great and the waiters were very friendly.
Me and my cousin ordered the set menu of the Entrocote meal, it comes along with a salad and a desert. one of my cousins wanted to try the French Onion soup, but could order it because he already has ordered the set menu and thought it would be too much if he ordered the soup with the meal. So he asked the waiter if he can substitute the salad with the Onion soup, the waiter hesitated but didn’t want to disappoint the customer, so he agreed to do that for him as an exception. Anyhow, when we ordered the check we found that they have added an order of Onion soup as a separate order, then when we talked to the server who gave us the bill and we explained what the other waiter agreed to do, he immediately apologized and took the bill to remove the Onion soup order. He did that and we were more than happy to get such service and food. It was an amazing meal and a great experience with a beautiful classy atmosphere that the new La Cuisine had.
