La Cuisine is located on Palestine Street, more or less opposite the Jamjoom Centre.An obsession with privacy presumably mandated the installation of an opaque glass frontage and entrance screens to shield diners from the glances of local pedestrians. The cuisine is French-influenced and therefore, careless of cholesterol, uses vast amounts of dairy products in its creations; even the green peppercorn sauce that accompanies its tender fillet steak is heavy with cream.
It is a perennial complaint that being a vegetarian one’s main course choices are almost always limited to either a pasta or a risotto; however, at La Cuisine there is a delicious spinach and mushroom vol-au-vent that is robust enough to do excellent duty as a main course for even large vegetarians. The superb Creme Brulee is the best in the city; the crunchy burnt sugar topping is not so thick nor so hard that one needs a hammer and chisel to smash through it, plus it is freshly caramelised before serving and comes warm to the table !
