I went on the first day with my friends for dinner. We were greeted by the Manager and shown to a nice booth table. The Menu of Noodles seems to have changed recently, now there is Beijing Duck (rolled in thin pancakes, with cucumber sticks and sweet hoi sin sauce) available and many other dishes are new!!!
We all ordered the special set menu, which consisted of a appetizer sampler (Cucumber salad, Crab & Prawn Salad and two different Dim Sum), Sweet corn crab meat soup, main course sampler (Spicy Chicken with Cashew nuts, beef stir fry with sweet sauce, prawns and vegetables and Shanghai fried rice), Mango & Chocolate mousse as dessert, green tea and welcome cocktail.
All of us just loved the food we had a very enjoyable time and will return to try all the new dishes from the improved a la carte menu.

I zeroed in on Noodles located inside the Rosewood corniche hotel to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The guy on the phone promised me that they had enough vegetarian options and the restaurant overlooked the red sea.
It turned out to be one of the best decisions ever!
We arrived in Noodles for lunch. The place was chic and had a very welcoming entrance. There was an open kitchen on one side with lots of dim sum baskets and another marble slab which i presume they use to make the noodles ( details of the hand made noodles in the pic.) On the other side were small pots of chinese tea in 3 different flavors with lots of small cups.We noticed that the whole restaurant was practically empty sans only a couple of tables that were occupied. But I was not overtly concerned as this was a weekday afternoon and the location of the hotel is not the best one for a quick office lunch. Since the restaurant was empty we could choose any table we wanted and we settled into a corner one overlooking the red sea. The menu was beautifully laid out with a seperate drinks menu which had various concotions, although we just settled for sparkling water.
The food menu looked exquisite and each section provided a detailed description of the food, a brief history of its origin and all details of the ingredients. I loved this. It only fired my appetite and I could harldy wait to dig my cutlery into the food.
We ordered a portion of the veg spring rolls and a portion of the veg dimsum to begin the proceedings.
The La Mian section attracted our attention and we both ordered a portion of the veg La Mian in a broth. The other option for the La Mian was the pan fried option. Now the La Mian ( details in the pic) are hand made noodles and in this place they make this at the display counter. Unfortunately we could not see the making as this was already prepared and I presume they put on a show in the weekends when the place is fairly more crowded.
The food arrived. The spring rolls were crisp and fresh and the dim sums were soft and flavorful. Wife only had a compliant that the dim sums were very small in size, which I agreed completely with. But it was so nice that we ended up ordering one more portion of the same. The sauces that accompanied were nothing great and were standard supermarket stuff. This is something that struck me as odd.
While we were finishing our appetisers, I could see the server walking towards us with 2 giant bowls. My heart almost missed a beat when I saw the size of the bowl. It was HUGE!! As you can see below, it was a rainbow of colors and looked magnificent. One bite and my tongue did a double flip inside my mouth. It was as if the flavors in the soup were married to each other and were living happily inside the bowl. It was simply brilliant. Although, to be honest, it was too much for either one of us to finish and we could finish only half of it. Our server, Rajesh, was a nice chap and had warned us of this before, but we had simply brushed away his concerns. After this, there was absouletely no way we could have any more food.
Rajesh asked us for the deserts and recomened the Banana toffee as it was their best desert. Both wife and me decided to wait a while before deciding on our desert. Whilst we were waiting, Rajesh got us 2 complimentary portions of the most exquisite mango mousse we have ever had. Soft mousse, with fresh cut pieces of fresh mangoes. After a lot of struggle we managed to tuck in a couple of bites and had to give the rest a miss. But we did this with a promise to Rajesh that we would be back soon to try the other stuff on the menu. And next time around, we want our non-vegetarian freinds around as well as the menu seems to be jumping about with all the non-veg goodness.
And thus ended a wonderful birthday lunch, one of the best we have had. Wife was happy with the place and the food and I was happy that she was happy.
Its crazy how some restaurants sell their drinks. Come on!! a can of cola for SR16. No matter how fancy a restaurant is, the drinks should be kept at a reasonable price except maybe for restaurant made drinks.
We wouldn’t have normally considered going to the Rosewood Hotel for a family lunch or dinner, but when I was lucky enough to win a Jeddah Food dinner voucher we immediately set a date to visit.
Noodles restaurant is one of three restaurants located on the second floor of Rosewood Corniche, a 5 star hotel with a stunning sea view.
Our waiter, Rajesh, was extremely helpful, not only in reserving our table and making sure we were very comfortable, but he had also gone to the trouble of hand-picking our menu in order to make sure we could experience the maximum variety of dishes on the menu.
Before being served we were invited to the open-style kitchen to watch the Chef make hand-made noodles from a ball of dough. Our kids loved the way he spun and twisted the dough repeatedly to finally make a whole string of noodles. The children were then given their own chef hats and invited in with the Chef to take a closer look and have their pictures taken.
Back at our table, we were brought our drinks which Rajesh told us were called ‘Sangria’, a kind of fermented berry juice followed by the appetizers; prawn, chicken and vegetable dim sum, shrimp on toast, spring rolls, fried calamari in an edible noodle basket all with individual servings of sweet and sour sauce.
All of the appetizers were of excellent taste and quality. My favourites were the shrimp on toast and the dim sum, however they were all so good that the serving plates were emptied very quickly.
We were then served our main course which consisted of fried rice, noodles, chicken with cashew, vegetable stir-fry and one of the Noodles specialty sizzling shrimps. The chicken with cashew and vegetable stir-fry was well-balanced and delicious with a distinct taste of oyster sauce. The grilled shrimps were brought sizzling on to our table still in their shells. The noodles tasted very fresh and were flavourful and quite unlike ready-prepared noodles one can buy at the grocery store.
Overall it was an excellent meal and the prices in general were good value for money (SR 30-50 a dish) with the exception of the sizzling shrimps (5 shrimps for SR120). None of us liked the juice and the cola was sold at too high a premium at SR16 a can.
A big thank you goes out to JeddahFood.com for introducing us to this quality restaurant which we plan to visit again sometime.
I have to start by saying I have read several reviews and comments on Noodles Restaurant, which all praised the food and the dining experience. I also have the highest respect for all those who have said the best of words concerning this restaurant. However, I have to say that my experience at Noodles, was far from the best, and definitely an eating experience I would like to forget.
I went with my husband and two small children, and was seated at a table which was very uncomfortable. The space between the table and the seatings was very far making you bend over to reach your food, which by the time your meal is over you have a very bad back. I do have to say though, the design of the place mixed with the background music did give me a feel of Asia. That part was done in an excellent manner.
We started our meal with the Chef Appetizer Plater which is 6 bite size pieces of 2 crab somethings, 2 spring rolls, and I have to say 2 other things I didn’t know what they were. The pieces were as I said bite size, and the plater costs 60SR. The spring rolls were the best of the three options, but were they actually worth 60SR? We then had 2 sweet corn soup with prawns for 30SR a piece. Again the amount of soup was little considering the price. The corn was not all that bad, however, the prawns inside tasted like they were boiled separately, and then added to the soup making their taste very bland and not fitting in with the soup.
For the main dish we tried two different noodle dishes, which according to their name as well as their menu should be their specialty or signature plate. Again, another disappointment. We tried the noodles with shrimp for 60SR and the noodles with 5 spices beef for 50SR. In both plates the noodles tasted exactly the same which I don’t believe is the way it should have been, and also besides that the noodles themselves were no different than the noodles you can buy at your regular food court for a fraction of the price. In the beef noodles dish, I must also mention that the beef squares were extremely undercooked. I know that some people favor to eat their meat in this manner, but if that is the case then the option should be provided on how you want your meat cooked.
With each noodle dish we ordered a main plater of beef stir fry with oyster sauce for 65SR and seafood mixed plater with broccoli and cauliflower and oyster sauce for 125SR. Now when you hear prices like that you expect at least a decent amount of food, but once again the disappointments just keep on piling up. Each plate was extremely small in size and had no logical connection to the price. From the seafood plate we only ate the vegetables. Now, I am not saying that I am an expert in Chinese food, but this is what I felt eating this food.
Now for such an upsetting experience 515SR is quite a lot to pay. And in the end we never even got the complementary Chinese tea that most of the reviews mentioned. To be fair as much as the experience itself was not one I would like to repeat, I can not finish without saying the hospitality and the service was to the best of anyone’s expectation and the entire staff was absolutely delightful.
This is by far one of the best experiences ever with regard to dining. I have visited many restaurants in quite a few parts of the world, however, in my opinion, Noodles has a combination of delicious food and a remarkable ambiance. i particularly enjoyed my meal because of the excellent service and the amazing view.At the end of the meal, the Chinese tea was quite refreshing. Overall, it was wonderful experience very worthwhile. i would definitely recommend it to everyone who is looking for a soothing environment and a tasty meal.
