If you are a person with a sweet tooth then here’s a haven you can indulge in. Munch Bakery is located in a cosy little corner, away from the hustle and bustle of the usual dining places which makes it a perfect get away.

Munch brings something new and unique to the bakery sector in Jeddah. The ambiance is colorful, cozy and vibrant. The exquisite interior makes you feel as if you’ve entered a candy factory and brings out the inner child in you. You can’t stop wondering when you can get your hands on those yummy munchies! I was very pleased when I visited the cup cake dream world, as the owner of the bakery was present who graciously introduced her bakery and the idea behind her concept. She even suggested her personal favorites and added charm to the place by her cheery nature.

The bakery must haves are the chocolate chip cookies, which I believe can become a serious competition to Anoosh cookies, and vanilla cupcakes that are not as tasty as Goodies but a different experience in itself. To top it off you can see the baking area where all the munchies are prepared.

A new thing to try there is the “Nexcite” drink (which is made of Herbs) that gives a sensational refreshing feeling and a cheerful mood!

Apart from munchies this place also has adorable souvenirs you can take home after a sweet experience at this little haven! A little over priced but can be delightful gifts for children and friends. This place is a must go especially if you have kids or are a kid at heart!

Haven’t eaten any of their products yet.I was still looking for the store used in their Jeddah Food Ad and have not found that yet. All their branches were small and were for take away orders. Wonder where the one they used for that ad is located. Most of the comments here were also a few years back. Anyone know where the bigger branch in the image is located? I would love to try their products later on and make a proper review.

RoamnJeddah, thanks for your reviews and feedback. The original Munch Bakery store is on Arafat Street. Since then a Sultant St branch and Rawdah street location have also opened.
      Hope this answers your question.

    I love cakes, who doesn’t?
Munch’s cupcakes have an amazing variety of colorful collection of cupcakes that are just mouth-watering to look at. However when it comes to the taste, the actual cake tastes quite ordinary; the chocolate cupcake tasted exactly like “betty crocker” which is not really a bad thing. The thing I liked was the frosting, just fluffy and amazing.
Oh but the real actual best thing is the place, it’s what you call cute and you feel your not in jeddah at all.

Dear Aisha, if you are affiliated with “Charlotte”, then perhaps you would serve your venue better by sending a press release to Jeddah Food just like the other owners. If you are a mere fan, then you should have submitted your own review. Either way, your review/advertisement to “Charlotte” (which looks great from the outside by the way), would benefit more by having its own post, not buried in another venue’s review. Which is not the proper way to do it anyway, not unless you are drawing a specific comparison between the two.

Not only is Munch good (MashAllah), it is hands down better than most cupcake places that people rave about in the U.S. Everytime I try a place in the States, I discover how much quality Munch takes to make their items delicious. I think the reason Munch is very successful is because there is not a lot of competitor in that field. I’ve been to Munch so many times, and the only reason I go there it’s because of their chocolate soufflé and the only reason I keep going back. But it’s nothing extraordinary about the place. It’s the theme and the idea of the place that appeals to many of the customers, which makes it very successful. I tried almost all of their muffins the only one that stood out for me is the chocolate soufflé muffin.

Those sugar pills are way too sweet- almost a diabetic waiting to happen. Half of a mini cupcake is enough to feel uneasy. They should definitely lessen the sugar on the icing.
People talked so much about it and so I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, they turned out to be regular Betty Crocker cup-cakes with super sweet colored icing in cute shapes. That was it.
People have seriously lost their sense of taste when it comes to good old proper tasty dessert. I personally have traveled around the world- Europe, States, M.E, Eastern Asia- nothing and I mean nothing in this world beats HILTON Dubai’s cakes, eclairs, cookies, Danish pastries and cup-cakes and not to forget- Cocos Banana cream pie! Now that is what I call desert- almost eating your fingers off!

    Dear Jeddahfood.com,

Although I agree about the ambiance and decor of the shop, i very much didn’t like their cupcakes, and to make sure, I tried almost all of them. The truth of the matter is, that the cupcake itself is not very good but it is found to appeal to many by the colorful designs and loads of icing to sweeten it which as a matter of fact is a bit greasy.
Now, when it comes to cookies, unfortunately there are not many bakeries that match up to Mrs. Field’s and the likes and comparing Anoosh and Munch is giving way too much credit to the latter.
But it is a nice place to walk through.

It is a highly subjective thing to like or dislike a certain kind of food. Thus Noory and Ibrahim entitled to their opinion, even though I personally can’t disagree more with them about the wonderful products of Munch.

I know it is a matter of personal preference and taste, but I can’t really help it not to voice my disagreement on the sudden burst of Munch bashing. To say that the products are tasteless is unfair, and the prove is that hundreds if not thousands of loyal customers everyday, many of them is from the upper crust of Jeddah society who have been around and have seen it all. So to be such fans of Munch Bakery means that they most be impressed by the quality of the products not fooled by glitter of the ambience.

I do go to Munch regularly, although I try not to go too frequently because I don’t wanna get any fatter, and I always find a new thing to like there. Lately they had these new cookies, chocolate chip filled with chocolate, and chocolate cookie filled with coconut, and they both rock. Also their lemon tart is mind-boggling. It so good and yummy and I’d recommend it to anyone I know.

on dec. 24th christmas eve, i came to pick up my pre-booked order of 6 chocolate marble loaves that i wanted to distribute as gifts for my friends.

and whoah! the place was fully packed with customers SRO (standing room only) waiting patiently for their precious orders. not only were the counter and kitchen staff out in full force buzzing about like busy bees, even their manager or owner ( i didn’t get his name – he was an elderly bespectacled gentlman) was in on the action as well, servicing customers & directing overall traffic! customers were having their cakes personalized with the names of their loved ones and the bakery staff took pains to make sure that they spelled it right.

munch bakery is clearly at the peak of its powers with very good business indeed. nice going munch!

i learned that munch bakery was located in my neighborhood at al hamra, near hamada supermarket. and so, one time after my regular evening jog at the globe park nearby, i hustled over to try them out.

as compared to the ambience at helen’s kitchen which was prim, proper and very english, munch bakery’s interiors were very cheerful, colorful, and frolicsome with a very feminine touch. the store layout was creative, inventive – like a cupcake fantasia! i somewhat felt out of place in my sweats and nikes, as the place was buzzing with families, couples and kids. very brisk business indeed!

Aside from the display counter which showcased their creations, they had candies, souvenirs and other goodies wonderfully strewn about the place that will surely catch the attention and curiosity of youngsters. their staff was also professional and established a quick rapport with the customers.

I tried their raspberry tart, apple crumble pie, blueberry cheescake (scrumptious with exquisite presentation) and the chocolate loaf which was wonderfully moist and good value for money (at sr 20 you get about ten 1-inch thick slices). i thought to myself this place will go places (no pun intended) and very franchisable too.

it is very tempting to return and ‘munch out’ on the myriad of other ‘munchies’ available. since then, munch has added a whole new dimension to my evening runs – a sweet but sinful one at that! :-D

I was so wrong, munch cupcakes are amazing!! Love the chocolate one with the cream cheese icing and the souffle is out of this world.

When we were there one of the owners was there we told her we would love to try a cookie dough cupcake, she told us they would try it next week.

We went back 3 days later as I was craving the choc. cupcake and they had the cookie dough cupcake… amazing place, amazing cupcakes and couldnt ask for better customer service! (thanks for listening, they were delicious!)

for a number of us who have studied abroad would love to have the feeling of a yummy cupcake place right here at home; jeddah.

I used to study in Los Angeles and Crumbs bakery and sprinkles were minutes away from home… and when i used to come back here to visit i was disapointed at the fact there was no bakery dedicated to cupcakes in jeddah. it could be part of a big restaurant such as goodies but not a specialized store.

along came munch and made me happy :)
the atmosphere is very welcoming. you feel like a kid once again in the yummiest candy store in this case, yummiest cupcake store.

there are over 10 different cupcake types to choose from and recently they added to the display.. cakes! so enjoy the cupcakes in the form of a cake! can it get any better? OH YES IT CAN!

the owner of much knows what her target audience wants and needs and gives it to them.

so you have a selection of cupcakes, brownies, cheesecakes, muffins, cakes.. and you can put ur own toppings on ur cupcake.. how awesome is that?

in addition, to imported candy from the UK and USA.

entering munch is basically entering a comfort zone. u cant come out of there unhappy. if u did.. there is a problem with you lol

so last but not least.. id love to see more seating available and lemonade (dont ask why but they go well together) for customers.. last time i went over to baskin robbins to sit and enjoy my cupcake.

“Jeddah Just got a lot sweeter”

Well, the title obviously tells you that this is going to be a positive review. “Jeddah just got a lot sweeter” is not this new places slogan, its what i felt when i took a bite out of one of their amazing cup cakes.

I got an e-mail two weeks ago telling me that this new place opened for business. And on the next day I gave it a try. Its located on Arafat street next to a Baskin Robins. Arafat Street is where the Iranian Embassy and Hamada shopping center are located. its also where the old AlSurafa and Ganache used to be. the place is not exactly on the street. its nested in a shoe horn collection of shops. if your driving fast you might miss it.

From the out side the place looks perfect for what it sells. it gave me the feel of a small pastry and sweets shop in france. The logo and name are great but I did not like the sign above the shop. It looks like the sign of your neighborhood laundry ( i suspect they did it this way just to get the amana off their backs). yet as you walk in, you walk into the bakery from your favorite romantic comedy movie (although i don’t watch them). The colors, the smells and the decoration. all was pitch perfect to me.

What do they sell? Cupcakes seams to be the specialty. And boy do they know how to prepare them! they are amazing. My favorite was a red velvet cupcake with vanilla frosting. They also have an amazing chocolate cupcake. I wish of could of tried all of them on that day.

They also have traditional cakes, pies, Cookies, Amazing brownies and muffins. they might have a couple of other items. But that is it. They are focused and I hope that they keep it this way.

There is a small area that i am not sure if it qualifies to be called a seating area, but the best thing to do is pack what you want to-go.

I would not call it pricey. a decent size cupcake sells for 6SR, brownies and cookies for 4SR.

Give the place a try. i found it to be great. (notice how many times i used the words amazing and great)
