I lived in Rawdah District for two months in Jeddah and just around the corner from where I was staying I discovered a fantastic little gem…called “Shadow Lounge” Well what a refreshing and pleasant surprise. They are open from 8:00 am – 1:00 am, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Free WiFi as well. I wanted to eat something quick and decided to walk up the road. I was greeted at the door with such a warm welcome that i was bowled over. Just like it’s supposed to be.

I asked if I could sit on the terrace and was promptly shown to my seat. The restaurant has a singles section downstairs and family upstairs. The waiter seated me and brought a menu to the table immediately. I noticed a root beer float on the menu and asked if I could have the root beer without the ice cream…..no problem..as it should be. I spotted a burger and was in the mood for it straight away. I placed my order and seconds later the waiter returned with the place setting and promptly placed the napkin on my lap,for a casual dining this is fantastic.

The menu covers pretty much everything…I did not spot any Arabic food…but some great selection of international dishes. I received an Amuse Bouche – crostini with salsa and beef bacon (nice touch). As for the burger, this was fantastic; a double burger with all the trimmings…fried onions, peppers, tomato, cheese and two home made patties. The fries could have been home made…my only complaint, if I may. My drink was promptly replaced with a fresh one and the waiter was back to check on me to see if all was in order.

I asked for the check and did not have to wait long as it was brought to me immediately. The burger was SAR 29 and Root beer SAR 12 each. plus 15% service charge which I payed with a smile and tipped extra.

@ Van Renzburg: LOL, I too always say this – “as it should be” or “it’s the norm” as I am used to A1 customer service in a European country like mine – South Africa..props on the review. One thing they lack though, is wireless router coverage right up into the family sec. Otherwise, it was a gorgeous venue tonight, had the egg & beef/bacon strip topped burger too. The danya/garlic sprinkled fries were marvelous. Leftovers await me in the morning.
    Cheers

We were very excited to try a new venue serving breakfast in Jeddah. We went online to view the menu. At that point everything about this restaurant seemed very promising. Then we arrived at 8:30 am, but the restaurant was closed, not a person to be seen. Doors locked. We waited about 10 minutes but decided since they are supposed to be open at 8:00 am that they would not be properly prepare for at least a 45 minutes to serve food. So we went to another restaurant for breakfast. We hope to try it someday. : (
