The Rosewood Corniche’s much talked about Japanese Restaurant is Ginza i Chome. Set on the 2nd floor of the Rosewood, both the view and food are reason enough to come here. A Live Sushi Bar, open plan kitchen and traditional decor make Ginza worthy of a visit. All you can eat buffets are often available, so it’s worth checking ahead to see when such promotions are running. Open for late lunches and dinners, Sunday to Friday.

Not that good for a five star hotel. Shrimp tempura was not tempura battered. Everything tastes good but nothing impressive. Just average. Waiters know nothing about Japanese food. No variety and not much to select from Plus some iTems on the menu are not available. I have been there a couple of times and always never impressed.

Have been a fan of Habsburg for a while, being the favorate outing for my family for special occasions. Being my sons 12 birthday, and with my kids starting to get addicted to Sushi, I thought of trying out the Unlimited Sushi special and going up 1 more floor. Unfortunitly it was a mistake.
Not like other Unlimited Sushi offers that I experienced, here they only offer 6 roles instead of giving you the full variety to choose from or at least a bigger one. The other issue is that they just bring you 2 of each kind without checking what your preference is, so I found myself not only eating my portion of the roles that I do not like, but unfortunilty my 2 kids did not like them also so I had eat 3 portions.
Topping it all off was my Sr 910 bill that I got with them counting my 10 and 12 year old kids as 2 adults, with my try to convince them that they are usually charged at kids rate all in vain. It seems the concept is Unlimited profits for the hotel…Never again!

Although the service and surroundings were delightful, the sushi was just so so. At the price point I expected to be blown away but the cuts were poor and the rolls were disappointing. Best sushi I’ve had so far in Jeddah has been at the Benihana, which isn’t fancy and is a bit run down but the sushi is great.

“We arrived at 7pm in Rosewood Hotel, went straight up to Ginza I Chome Restaurant. The restaurant as usual was empty at the time. We sat down and ordered the “all you can eat sushi”. As a welcome drinks, they served us non-alcoholic sangria which was surprisingly tasty! We were then served with the appetizer, Miso soup and followed by a choice of crispy salad (deep fried chicken on rockets and what looks like ceasar dressings) and crab salad (with fresh crab mixed with cucumber and seaweed with a lovely dressings which am not quite sure what it was but it was delicious). These items you can’t have seconds. I know this coz I asked if I could have the crab salad again and they told me no.
5 to 6 varieties of sushi and 2 types of sashimi (salmon and tuna) were neatly and perfectly served on a nice wooden platter. The sushi were freshly rolled and not drenched with mayo and other ingredients as what you get in other Japanese restaurants in Jeddah – here you can actually taste the bits in it and the sashimi were freshly sliced and succulent. It was exquisite! These alone were enough for my small tummy although I was a bit naughty and ordered another round of sashimi… J
All in all; food was fantastic, ambience was almost perfect albeit empty, service was what you expect from a prestigious hotel such as Rosewood. I highly recommend those who enjoys the real taste of sushi and sashimi to head to Ginza I Chome, Rosewood Hotel soon before the offer ends. For SAR185++, all you can eat sushi and sashimi, it was worth every halalas! Trust me you be elegantly full after 2 servings unless of course if you are a sumo wrestler then it’s a different story but you’ll be pleasantly fed just the same. “

I went there last night with 2 of my cousins, we chose Ginza i Chome (Japanese) the decoration was beautiful with a soft ambiance of light here and there. we chose to sit at the sushi bar. but unfortunately there were no music at all. i think i heard a traditional Japanese instrument playing on the background, its a great idea to give out all the atmosphere to the guests, but it wasnt loud enough to be heard.

The menu. there wasnt that much to choose from. the menu was particularly small. all of us tried the noodles after being suggested that their noodles is the best Japanese noodles in town and all that. after being treated for a house complimentary tuna salad. i ordered Ebi tempura soba (shrimp tempura noodles), ma cousin (Turki) went for Niku tempura soba (beef). my other cousin orderd a noodles but in salmon fish tempura siding…wasnt so great when i tasted he’s. alongside with their house specialty cocktail that tasted more likely like that bottled “pink cocktail” from the supermarket plus a little twist of lemon or so. ill give the cocktail 2 out of 5.
and for the food 2 out of 5 as well.

(Btw, the six courses menu was for 300sr not 200sr as it was mentioned in the review in the review of Ginza.a little correction :)

beside that, the service was really great, the crew were extremely friendly. and there were two Indonesian cooks (i’m originally from Indonesia, btw) who were very friendly and were ready to serve us without reaching to nagging level, very professional. ill give the service 5 out of 5.Very Excelent.

over all, ill generously give it 6 out of 10.most of the credit goes to the service.
