Promenade Cafe1 Reviews
Due to an overwhelming wave of heartsickness my friend was leaving for a brief vacation, and I was coaxed away from my office to go shopping on Tahliya. When we somehow finished the deed before lunch we wondered where to go to have bite. Since I would have to return to the office, I wanted to make sure the meal would be light but tasty and the setting would be both bright and with a view. We chose the cafe in the Promenade on the second floor.
Perched right next to a wide window we decided to order their Greek salad. How to describe the lovely harmony of creamy Feta cheese, ripe, juicy miniature tomatoes and a refreshing vinaigrette over a bed of mixed greens? Quite simply what a Greek salad was born to be. My dining partner is no friend of olives but she found herself chasing them around the plate.
Next was sharing one of their lighter-than-air pizzas. The dough is both thin and chewy without the burden of excess fat. The vegetable topping gave an appetizing pop of color and the vegetables weren’t over-processed or over-cooked. Delectable and despite our best attempts to take some home it quite easily vanished between the two of us.
Next our smiling waiter brought out a perfectly timed main course of steak in mushroom sauce. How heartening to find a chef who understands how beef should be treated. The medium done steak came as requested and the lovely sauce with mushrooms complemented the dish without overpowering it. The mashed potatoes and sauteed carrots were up to the task of accompanying the tender steak but the spinach had just turned that slight shade of red which tells you it was first to to be placed on a warmed platter. A slight off note but not a deal breaker.
