One of Jeddah’s more popular Chinese eateries, Chopsticks flagship venue opened in Jeddah in 2010 and has since developed a reputation for its quality Chinese fare. As fans of Shrimp we certainly weren’t short of options here, try the Shrimp Fried rice for something special, and the prawn dim sum – equally impressive. Service is friendly, and the interior makes for a more comfortable environment than most other Chinese restaurants in town.

Visited for the Iftar deal. Otherwise, I am a huge fan of chopsticks, and love all of its menu. However, the Iftar service was horrible. But, don’t worry about the food. The things listed on the deal were yummy! and as always, tasty and good portion. However, the waiters had to be called so many times to take the order. There was no announcement of the Iftar time, causing confusion among diners. We had to wait a long time before given any food to eat after Maghrib Azan. Plus, they gave us the Qahwa 20 minutes BEFORE the Iftar, thus it was ice cold. The amount of price you pay, should mean unlimited refills, but sadly that is not so. Still, the food was tasty, but service horrible. Will not reccomend if you are planning to invite guests there.
The place is awsome, Food is Great, Sevice is perfect, No Any Mistake.
Love the Place

My Favorite chinese in Town
Visited after hearing great feedback about it. I was shocked to find out that it was the worse Chinese I’ve had in Jeddah . We ordered hot n sour soup, beef n oyster sauce, sizzling chicken, shrimp friend rice and noodles. Everything tasted the worse. The soup was thicker than hummus and the beef and noodles were tasteless. Never going back again !
The best food we’ve tasted so far here is the Jing Do crispy beef. Its thin cuts of crispy beef goes so well with the sweet chili sauce in it.
We always order egg or shrimp fried rice and beef fried rice for the males because it’s a little spicy. What I do on the other hand is combine the egg and beef fried rice because I like mine to have a little kick to it. My brother really likes the shrimp dumplings served in bamboo basket. 4 pcs. per order and he can finish 2-3 orders of it!
Everything is excellent there!
We’ve never actually visited the restaurant, but a friend gave us the menu and we’ve always ordered the same few dishes. Every time we haven’t cooked, we’ll order from Chopsticks and it’s always great. We order the shrimp blast appetizer (phenomenal!), the crispy beef dish (excellent!!!), and recently, we tried the fish in black bean sauce (great). They are efficient in their delivery time and wonderful in their packaging. It’s a great delivery place for some tasty Chinese food whenever you are in the mood.
In the mood for some great Chinese food? Look no further. Chopsticks is the place!
The restaurant offers a contemporary ambience. For a brief moment you may think you are dining in Tokyo or Singapore. You will see a brief description of the characteristics of each Chinese Zodiac animal and the year each one corresponds to, so you can find out which year you belong to, according to the Chinese calendar.
Chopsticks distinguishes itself from other restaurants because of its elegant aesthetic.
The waiters are friendly and you feel pleased. We were served with an apple and mint Italian ‘welcome shot’ as soon as we were seated.
I’m usually there for a weekend lunch when the tummy needs a pick-me-up. I order the same four dishes every time since they are so dee-lish:
first we order soup and, the hot soup arrives at the table while I am still looking AT MENU to order for the main course.
For starters we always order spring rolls & chicken wings that were long and full of sautéed vegetables,A must have! Tender and moist chicken covered with a crispy, light and drizzled with a thick, tangy sauce.the sauce is OH SO GOOD! .
The chicken wings are lightly battered and fried to the perfect crispness. perfectly crisp on the outside and tender and juicy inside. But it’s the sauce that is out-of-this-world NOM NOM NOM. Whoever coined the phrase “NOM NOM NOM” had a mouthful of dry friend chicken wings in this sauce and couldn’t express how delicious they were. I request the sauce on the side, so the chicken wings retain their crispness. The sauce is thick, sweet, slightly spicy and gooey. I don’t know what’s in here, but it’s amazing. fantastic. outstanding. Truly finger-licking sticky goodness.
CHOW MEIN is our family favorite dish. The combination chow mein, chock full of mushrooms, vegetables and seafood was good as was the “Happy Family” – stir fried beef, chicken, shrimp, calamari, scallops, mussels, broccoli, zucchini, black mushrooms and baby corn in a spicy sauce. Who wouldn’t like that combination!
Another winner! ‘Shrimp Blast’, which is basically crunchy fried shrimps with spicy sauce. Twelve good-sized dumplings stuffed with a generous portion of ginger, garlic infused ground shrimp and Chinese chives. The filling is moist and juicy and the dough covering is steamed just perfectly to a slight chewy consistency. Dipped in the vinegar and chili oil sauce and I’M IN HEAVEN! My favorite!
you may modify the ingredients of any dish, select the quantity of sauce in any platter,or add the level of spiciness to your taste.
Chopsticks aims to give health conscious guests with a range of tasty, low-calorie dishes.
we never forget to order the signature dish ‘Jing Do Crispy Beef’. My god the meat was so tender and the sauce was superior! Totally lived it.its served with RICE carrots, coriander, dried chili, and sweet chili sauce.the taste was unfamiliar, an interesting mix of sweet with spicy, which tasted pretty good.
Chinese tea Cha Sen Tea for late evenings is perfect because it is caffeine free, soothing, and good for digestion. Cha Sen Tea is flavorful I would like to drink again. my kids ordered the Banana Fritters for desert which comes with vanilla ice cream ! YUMMY !
For Chinese cuisine lovers Chopsticks will appeal to diners who prefer a full dining environment, good taste and presentation and most important satisfied service.
Being that they’re so popular it does get crowded and the wait can be rather long, but it’s well worth it! Arriving shortly after they open for lunch or an early dinner helps in getting a table right away. The overall experience was EXCELLENT, it wasn’t over priced, for 2 starters, 2 main course dishes and 2 side dishes plus drinks & dessert, our bill was SR 385. Enjoy!!!!!!!
Excellent Food, amazing service.. I abolutly do recommend it..
My favourite Chinese cuisine:)

Great ambient, great service, great food, great service. What else would you need in a restaurant?
By the way, we ordered the sizzling beef and sizzling shrimps and they were both AMAZING.
We recently ordered in at a friend’s recommendation and were blown away! The food was excellent! We ordered a crispy beef entree, the vegetable noodles, the shrimp blast appetizer and orange chicken for our child. Everything was great. The packaging of the food and the sauces was ingenious, as was their speedy delivery. Overall great experience!
nice food … good service
but too noisey
Been wanting to go there for ages. Happen to know their number?
went there twice. once for iftar and then later for dinner. both times disappointed with the service and the food. Little on the expensive side for what you get. there are far better asian food options in town.
Actually, the minimum comment or compliment I can say for this restaurant is (AMAZING) !!
I went two times with my family, the food is great, the service is excellent, but in the Friday it becomes so crowded, which effect on the service a little bit, but it is ok.
The first time I went with my family and we were 4 persons, we ordered 6 dishes, three orders of rice, appetizer, and 4 drinks, we paid 330 Riyals,, and the value of the food was reasonable with the prices.
The atmosphere is amazing, the staff are friendly, I met the best waiter ever, his name is (Mike),, he served us as in a professional way.
For me, if I would like to eat Chinese food, the first name will come into my mind is (CHOPSTICKS) !!
i have certainly no complaints about the architectural design and furnishings of chopsticks restaurant. as you enter through its doors, the neutral colors and warm earth hues try to convince you that this is not your mundane chinese restaurant with the obligatory splashes of red color and lanterns adorning the ceilings. its decor exuded a peculiar ambience of western persuasion rather than an oriental flavor. something fresh and new – why not? but as i gazed upon the large table settings (at least good for 8-10 people on the ground floor), i wondered if the food similarly suffered an identity crisis of sorts. anyhow, i was prepared to be impressed and blown away.
for starters we selected the fried won-ton, and the three treasures soup. for the main dishes we picked the steamed vegetable with bamboo shoots, crispy chicken with orange sauce, steamed fish fillet, and fookien fried rice.
the evening would have started out well were it not for the fried wonton whose wrappers i found a tad too thick and the fillings that tested the patience of your fork. the three treasures soup was a redemption though, downright tasty and wonderfully spiced as the ginger and sesame flavors carried the whole ensemble of shrimp, chicken and crabstick harmoniously. a minor gripe was its lukewarm temperature – it wasn’t piping hot as i would have wanted it.
moving on to the main courses, the steamed fish fillet was not as disappointing as the next batch of dishes that ensued. from this point on, i’m afraid to report it was all downhill for me as far as expectations go. the vegetables with bamboo shoots appeared lifeless and lacked bling. I recall my past chinese dining adventures in other asian countries where, for instance, the green broccoli florets dazzled with color and burst with flavor with a reassuring crunch to the bite. the temperature of the dish was just warm and not steaming hot as i preferred. meanwhile, the fookien fried rice seemed rehashed and overcooked, and the colors were subdued.
the crispy chicken was a little deceiving as presented from the menu because i was expecting crunchy deep fried choice pieces with the tangy sauce on the side. when it came, they were big flat fried strips of chicken coated with batter and then smothered with the orange sauce. the final result was a soggy mish mash and therefore not crispy at all. and it was a tad too sweet for my taste as well. i thought that the orange slices on the side that adorned the dish i thought were an overstatement.
judging by the good number of otherwise favorable comments i’ve read from other satisfied customers on this blog, chopsticks certainly impressed them like no other, most specially on those days when they really outdid themselves in terms of food quality and presentation and i am happy for them, if not downright envious. in fact i was tempted not to post this review to avoid raining on their parade. my visit was probably an exception because by my personal reckoning, and this is only my opinion, chopsticks tried hard (and it hit the mark with some of the dishes) but failed to impress overall and i tend to agree with the original reviewer that it was in the end a “typically average” asian restaurant you’d find in jeddah in terms of food taste and quality.
when i really put the issue to the boil, what bubbles to the surface is consistency and quality control. to be a great restaurant, chopsticks must work harder and impress all diners on any day of the week, and not only when they get lucky or feel like it. again, because taste is a personal and subjective matter, by all means do try out chopsticks – because thats how you discover restaurants.
We are always in the look for the next Z-Noodles and Zyng (may they rest in peace), I took my wife yesterday to visit Chop Sticks at Iftar time. We arrived there shortly after Maghrib prayer, and the place, although less than half full, was lively.
Our cheerful host took us to our table, and we were represented with the menus in no time. We had the choice of having the Iftar offer which was 98 SR per person service included, or choosing from the menu ala carte. We decided to take the Iftar offer, since it was our first time and that would help us discover their offerings. What was great about their Iftar offer is that it let’s you choose your main dish and dessert from their extensive menu, and when it comes to the main courses, it is extensive indeed.
The Iftar offer includes soup of the day, a platter of three kinds of mixed appetizer, your choice of chicken noodles salad or green salad, your choice of vegetable noodles, fried rice or steamed rice, a main dish from the menu, and a dessert. That plus water, a soft drink, dates and Arabic coffee.
While waiting for our food, we started looking around checking out the restaurant. It is simply but elegantly decorated and the high sealing makes it look more spacious than it actually is. The dark brown wooden tables and chairs are stylish and comfortable, and the walls are decorated with Chinese drawing with literature about the different Chinese years, which keeps you busy reading about your personality according your year of birth. It is an amusing read but clearly not to be taking seriously.
The soup of the day was chicken noodles soup, it was ok, but I would not recommend it. I would rather have a Tum Yum or a hot and sour soup. Then comes the appetizer’s platter, with a piece of shrimp ball, fish stick, and vegetable spring roll each, all fried, all very good, especially the shrimp ball. For salad we had one of each offering, and we liked both of them, the green salad especially with its balsamic vinaigrette was very good.
For the main course we chose Chicken Cashew and our waiter’s recommended Beef with 8 special spices, with that we had fried rice and vegetable noodles. Both those dishes were to our satisfaction. The chicken cashew was actually better than we expected, and I liked the beef dish which was simmered in yellow curry paste and cooked potato cubes which is a first for me in an Asian restaurant. The fried rice was very good, but the noodles were too greasy and extremely salty for my taste. The cook really need to take it easy on the soy sauce. Actually come to think about it, all the dishes we had were a little too salty. So may be it is important for your guys if you are going to try the restaurant to let your waiter know about your salt preference, because my guess is the chef is just a little too eager with his salt shaker.
When it comes to dessert, we were so full, but that did not stop us from reaching a compromise; instead of two serving, we opted to share, in spite of our waiter’s plea for a full experience. Even though I was so curious about the fried ice cream, we decided to go with the chocolate fondant (and who can say no to that!) which comes with a scoop of ice cream. Let me tell you, this is the best darn chocolate fondant that I have had in Jeddah (and I mean in Jeddah only), it was warm, velvety, and the its sweetness was balanced, and it was complemented with a great scoop of vanilla ice cream which I totally wanted to ask more questions about it but forgot. Our waiter offered to bring us a second serving of that fondant but I listened for once to reason and declined.
In conclusion, Chop Sticks is a great competition to the existing Chinese restaurants in Jeddah, with an extensive menu and reasonably priced items. It has a very cheerful and extremely helpful staff providing a fast and great service in a great ambience. I would recommend it to anyone who loves Chinese/Asian food as we know it in Jeddah. That being said, alas! My search for the next Zyng or Z-Noodles continue, as no existing restaurant in the City can fill that void.
I went to chopsticks and I personally liked the experience so much starting from the entrance to the tiniest details.
First of all, the decoration is really taken care of. The colors, the props and the settings. The seats and the food utensils are placed and cleaned properly
To start off, I am fond of Chinese food, especially in Jeddah, so I know what I am talking about when I put Chopsticks i comparison to the others.
I tried the shrimp dumplings, and the shrimp ball as starters. The latter tasted great, however the former represented the choice of the chef which is to put less dough and increase the fillings. I find this acceptable and generous of them.
The hot an’ sour soup was excellently calibrated 50% hot, 50% sour, unlike Durrat China where it’s more hot or Shingrella where it is too sour, and by the way, it was my first time to finish the soup bowl by myself
Moving on to the main course, I tried the Jing du beef, and it was beyond amazing. Also, the chicken with cashew tasted exceptionally good. The Vigi-fried noodles used to have problem at the opening of the restaurant because the sauce was not so absorbed within the noodles,. Fortunately, they overcame this problem as soon as I visited it once again.
There are people who openly ask customers for suggestions and they seemed to really care to hear constructive criticism.
My boll (me and my friend)is always around 150 rials, which is quite fair considering the luxurious experience, the quality of the food, and the hygiene maintained in the restaurant.
Idris’s post was really shocking to me. Maybe he was talking about China gate or some totally different place. He is a little preoccupied or outraged, and I can’t find the reason why his post is fixed. Sarcastic criticism doesn’t deserve to be rewarded !!

I think I enjoyed my visit to Chop Stick as much as you did, and it is now on the top my list when it comes to Chinese food. That being said, I think it is not cool to attack Idris’s experience. Taste is subjective, that is why what you and I like, might not appeal to someone else.
Idris won for a well put review, which was the reason I went there in the first place. Just like you might win too for your review, which was really good until you railed against your fellow banterer.
Chopsticks is hands down the best food according to value for money out there. It also quite possibly beat Durrat China as the best Chinese restaurant.
Their Jing Do Beef is to die for. So is the red curried shrimp. The decor is amazing and the furniture exquisite.
If you want good Chinese that’s not ridiculously expensive, go to Chopsticks.
Went there last week. Nice contemporary decor and good food. Nice variety and very good value for money. Go!

Hi all,
Does anybody have the phone number of Chopsticks Jeddah?
Thanks
Hisham
I have to disagree with this review, we ate in Chop Sticks today, dumplings to start with thin dough as I expect. Followed by Sizzling Chicken, Duck with Black Mushroom, Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, with Singapore Noodles and Fooken Fried Rice.
Overall we had no complaints and loved the Garlic sauce, none of the dishes were over powering nor bland with an average price. We have already recommended the restaurant to friends.
Will certainly go back.
The Opportunist Guide to Make it in Jeddah:
It doesn’t matter what you serve, coffee, pancakes, Asian, European, African, Martian, etc. As long as you have Shesha in house, you are good to go.
exactly right ayaa1977…this just reflects what the people’s taste is like here, but hopefully restauranteurs will see that there are quite a few of us who will appreciate something more and work on opening up something more than just the average…or maybe not because it wont make them as much money. :S
Thanks for great review. I am tempted to check it out, but after reading your review I can’t help but to be disappointed. It seems that only run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant can survive in Jeddah. Back in the day we had Z-Noodle which was wonderful but it closed down. Then Zyng opened but due to poor pathetic management it failed miserably too.
I think Chop Stick will have to cater to the same market in order to succeed, in other words: mediocrity and more of the same is they key to make it in Jeddah.
