When we hear the word ‘bukhari’ food, we will immediately think of restaurants one finds almost everywhere that serve the famous rice dish with chicken or lamb meat with Formosa Sambousa or Manto dough. These restaurants are popular amongst labour workers and single men, as they serve hot meals that taste good, and at a cheap price. Sorry to have to say this, but most of these restaurants are now run by Afghan people God bless them, but the food they make is not bukhari anymore.

Well I found this great restaurant near “Ice Land and Sultan Mall” to the East going towards Madina Road called “Tarim” specialized in Turkistani food (a.k.a bukhari),for those who wants to experience original turkistani dishes cooked like the ones cooked at home, like Mantoo, chish-burak, laghman noodles and of course bukhari rice- those who have bukhari friends will know what I’am talking about.

The modern style decor of the place is quite nice, staff are friendly, and the service good. As expected there is a separate section for families and singles, and like most places in Jeddah, the Family section has a cafe like area for coffee, snacks and shisha. Surprisingly the menu includes Italian and Sea food dishes too, (that was interesting).

    Hi adnan,

Could you mention maybe a few streets in Jeddah where I can find Bukhari restaurants besides Tarim? I am new to the city and do not know where to look – or even what to look for.

    Thanks!
