Bamboo

One of the most famous “landmarks” in Rawdah District is the HUGE lobster…yes, most of you have gaped in awe at the massive crustacean, but did you know that this ‘Lowng sha’ (Mandarin Chinese for ‘lobster’) is guarding Bamboo Seafood Restaurant?
Bamboo is one of my familys favorites because of 3 things: the food, the decor, and the atmosphere.
First off, let’s talk about the food. Bamboo’s menu is quite extensive, with the emphasis of course being on the seafood (fish, shrimp, prawns, lobster), but with staple Chinese beef, chicken, veggie, and noodle entrees. We havent come close to trying all of them, but my family always seem to order these dishes:
For Appetizers: Bamboo Combo – deep fried wontons (yum), shrimp balls (YUM), spring rolls (YUM), and fried sesame shrimp (yum). You get about 4 pieces of each. The Squid Rings are also DIVINE not too much batter, and the squid is fresh & not plasticky. Oh and if you love dumplings grab an order of the Shrimp Dumplings theyre not as good as the dim sum ones at Noodles in Rosewood, but theyre not too shabby!
For Soups: Chicken Corn Soup is heaven not too sweet, lots of chicken, not too gravy-like . Theres also the Mixed Seafoods Noodles Soupit comes in a huge bowl (enough for 2 or 3 people!!), but if you like noodles, Chinese veggies, and seafood youll love this!
Entrees: Shrimp with Cashews my husbands favorite. Sweet sauce, fresh shrimp, cashews, a little green onion, all put together to make your taste buds go wild. Since we always seem to load up on the appetizers, theres just one other entre at our table: Tepanyaki Lamb Chops, which is always served on a sizzling platter. Part of the fun is having the waiter do a drum solo using the sizzler lid (just order it, youll get what I mean!), but just peep under the lid to see the real magic tender bits of lamb and onion drizzled with that tantalizing Tepanyaki sauce (a bit tangy, a bit sweet, but just right!). Im not much of a mutton fan, but this dish always makes my mouth water.
Rice & Noodles: Mixed Seafood Vermicelli- this is a nice mix of long, thin noodles, light sesame oil, mixed veggies (onions, mushrooms, carrots, green pepper, green onions, bamboo shoots) and mixed seafood. Im a big noodle fan, so I always choose noodles instead of rice (although the mixed fried rice is also very tasty and doesnt taste like its just reheated left-overs!)
Next up is the decor at Bamboo which reminds me of an indoor version of Malaysia. Stepping into the restaurant (dont forget to rub the Lobster on the way in for good luck!) youll find an indoor carp pond nestled under thick, green vines and illuminated with soft lighting. There are both private rooms for families (round table for six to eight) and smaller booths (for up to four) with curtained partitions. The upstairs level is more open, but families will like the ground floor better. Looking around, you ll notice the bamboo, thatching, and natural decor elements such as pebbles, slate, and more bamboo. Check out the lighting fixtures– we always seems to get the wicker puffer fish at our table! Also, there are large, attractive aquariums throughout the restaurant which add a nice and relaxing touch.
Finally, the atmosphere at Bamboo is satisfying both in regards to the food and the decor. The staff want to make sure that your meal is delicious in every way, served in a timely manner (no rushing!), and between the bamboo, aquariums, and soft lighting youll find it hard to NOT curl up in a corner and take a quick nap after stuffing yourself at the table!
My only complaint is the parking, which can get downright crazy in the evening. Theres parking in the back, if you can get into it!
Overall, Bamboo is a great restaurant right in the middle of Rawdah Just look for the Lobster!

Good writeup, however it would have been great if you could have provided the details on the cost of the food.
